Black and white infrared works really well for me when there is a mix of living and non-living materials. Here digital infrared capture adds to the surreal West Thumb Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park. Here at the edge of the lake, trees and grasses have to battle wind and snow plus the ever shifting geo-thermal springs that can cook plant roots. Around the hot springs and geysers the ground temps can rise to a level that almost no vegetation can survive. Adding a polarizer to my lens made the water in the Ephedra Hot Spring even darker.
