Sunset over the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

Photography Tip: Go long! Long-exposures often make scenes with any motion more interesting. Capturing the streaks that you see in the river here, for example, required a two-minute long shutter speed.

The catch: Long slow shutter speeds create a lot of sensor noise even at your camera's best ISO setting. I have a number of video tutorials on my website on how I fight digital capture noise using a variety of tools including Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop CC, and Nik Dfine. Tutorials on the amazing noise removal capabilities of DxO Optics Pro Elite coming soon!
