DMarx-2013-03-11-2341-Edit-Aurora Borealis Over The Churchill Northern Studies Centre.jpg
The Northern Lights blaze through the night above the Churchill Northern Studies Centre in Manitoba, Canada.
News of a huge sunspot that is rotating towards Earth this week makes me dream of phenomenal skies and the chance to go North again this winter.
Photography Tip: Night photography rewards those with strong raw file processing skills. Night images are inherently off-colored and noisy. This is no place for jpeg. Polishing up a great night photo always requires white-balance changes and elegant noise reduction techniques.

I have Adobe Photoshop Lightroom tutorials on both of these subjects at:
I will be leading another Northern Lights Photography workshop up to Churchill in early March 2015. Space on this workshop is extremely limited and the arctic weather is always challenging. This is a tremendous opportunity to see something amazing in the night sky and to learn a whole lot more about night photography. More details at http://bit.ly/Xt5g1S
