Direct sunshine is rare treat at the bottom of the Grand Canyon in late November. The river bottom is a magical place when the light breaks through the side canyons and little gaps in the towering cliff walls.
Photography Tip: Strong beams of direct light are always photogenic. Sunbeams are often fleeting and the exposure can be tricky but whenever you see a streaks of light painted across the landscape you have found a great subject. Shoot away and bracket your exposures because that beam of light may soon be gone and it might never come back!
It is about as far from the Grand Canyon as you can get but I am teaching another Coastal Maine Photography Workshop at the historic Spruce Point Inn Resort and Spa early this September. Landscape and travel photography techniques will be the focus of every lecture and every field shoot. See http://bit.ly/1418fdv for more details.
